FINANCE COMMITTEE
The Finance Committee is composed of board members selected for their financial expertise and representative of the following areas: banking, accounting, insurance and nonprofit budgeting. Responsibilities include reviewing and revising the Finance Policies & Procedures Manual, developing policies as needed, monitoring compliance of financial management practices, recommending an annual operating budget, reviewing capital expenditure requests, meeting with independent auditors, reviewing audited financial statements and tax returns, monitoring the organization’s reserves, and reviewing contracts as needed.
This committee meets quarterly.
diversity, equity & inclusion COMMITTEE
We recognize that structural racism and other forms of oppression have contributed to persistent disparities that United Way seeks to dismantle. UWKV strives to engage community members, especially those whose voices have been traditionally marginalized, to create solutions that ensure everyone has the resources, supports, and opportunities they need to thrive. We have committed to leveraging UWKV’s assets to create a more inclusive organization and a more equitable Kennebec Valley. This committee comprised of community members, stakeholders, UWKV board members, and UWKV staff.
This committee meets monthly.
COMMUNITY INVESTMENT process COMMITTEE
The Community Investment Committee, which is comprised of United Way Board members and local volunteers, is responsible for reviewing funding applications from local nonprofits. Based on this information, the committee allocates United Way funds appropriately.

resource development & Donor relations Committee
The Resource Development & Donor Relations Committee collaborates to create and implement new strategies to diversify and improve UWKV's revenue. Focuses include identifying prospects; building, maintaining, and re-establishing relationships with current and previous donors to improve retention; engaging community members to generate awareness of UWKV's presence in the community; and networking at local events.

Marketing & Events COMMITTEE
The Marketing & Events Committee will meet bimonthly to create and implement new strategies that will expand UWKV's brand and messaging throughout the county. This committee will review what has been and hasn't been working to grow UWKV's donor and volunteer base as well as its initiatives and advocacy efforts. Additionally, members of this committee will help plan and volunteer at annual events.

CAMPAIGN champions
The Campaign Champions group is responsible for overseeing the campaign cycle for the given year, under the leadership of the campaign chairs. The primary goal is to ensure a successful annual campaign.
This committee meets during the spring and summer.
Emerging Leaders Society Advisory Council
The Emerging Leaders Society (ELS) Advisory Council guides the work of ELS, a network of dynamic, civic-minded people who make
an annual gift of $400 or more and commit to volunteering. Council members are Emerging Leaders themselves and identify important causes and volunteer projects, plan fun and fancy networking
events, and organize opportunities to learn from community and business leaders.
legacy & Retiree COMMITTEE
The Legacy & Retiree Committee is responsible for cultivating and soliciting current and future gifts to United Way of Kennebec Valley that require the use of estate planning techniques or that have significant financial and tax consequences.

HUMAN RESOURCEs COMMITTEE
The Human Resources Committee is made up of Board members and is responsible for maintaining the Employee Handbook in compliance with current employment laws and requirements. The Committee also performs specific functions in support of the Executive Committee and Board, such as timely reviews of job descriptions, salary surveys and more.
