Welcome message from new Executive Director Courtney Yeager
Dear United Way Family,
As the new executive director of United Way of Kennebec Valley, I believe that we are only as strong as the company we keep. After several years with this organization, I can say with confidence that we are surrounded by the best people with the biggest hearts.
I recognize that the leader of United Way holds an important role as a community organizer in the Kennebec Valley—and it's a responsibility that I don't take lightly. My goal is to preserve and build upon the incredible, 64-year-old legacy that this organization has, while simultaneously looking toward the future with growth in mind. Luckily, we have the right people on our side. We have an enthusiastic, committed Board of Directors, a knowledgeable staff with decades of experience between them, and a community full of volunteers and donors who never fail to say “yes.”
Our goal is to use each precious dollar wisely to achieve the greater good of measured, impactful social change. No matter how our organization continues to evolve, our number-one goal will always be to make sure that the people in our community are well taken care of. And you—our donors, volunteers and funded programs—will always be our primary partner in building a stronger, healthier Kennebec Valley. Our job is to help people activate the part of themselves that wants to leave the world a better place, and I thank you for choosing to make a difference through the collective power of United Way.
United Way has been a whirlwind of activity during this transition period. In the past month, we’ve welcomed Michelle Boyer as our new director of resource development and marketing, celebrated our most successful golf tournament to date, and kicked off our campaign season with a record-breaking $1.16 million in early support from 26 pacesetter businesses. When you partner with United Way of Kennebec Valley, you donate more than money—you give the gift of literacy, self-sufficiency and community resiliency.
You are a crucial friend to United Way, and I want you to know that my door is always open. In the coming months, I plan to do a lot of listening to better understand where we are as an organization and where we need to be. Each of you has a unique perspective on the needs of our community, and I'm eager to hear your thoughts. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time at cyeager@uwkv.org or 626-3400.
With gratitude,
Courtney Yeager, Executive Director
