COVID-19 Response fund for KEnnebec valley
The United Way of Kennebec Valley (UWKV) and our partner programs have been working hard to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic to meet the short- and long-term needs of those who have been impacted. Like you, we felt particularly concerned about people who rely on local nonprofits for help with basic needs, including food, shelter and child care. We recognized the potential for economic impact—unpaid absences, illness, job loss, and financial strain—related directly or indirectly to the virus. And we wanted to make sure that homebound seniors continued to receive meal deliveries, shelters could keep their doors open, and children were fed in light of school closures.
For 65 years, United Way of Kennebec Valley has stepped up whenever the community faces a challenge. Beginning in March 2020, organizations that serve populations in need every day were finding themselves under-resourced to respond to a growing demand for services. As your United Way, we chose to work hard to raise the funds needed to respond to this crisis.
HOW does THIS FUND WORK?
This fund is designed to be flexible and to get proceeds to organizations serving those in need with minimal bureaucracy and a sense of urgency. Any 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in Kennebec Valley is eligible to request funds. Funds continue to be released regularly during the recovery phases of the crisis, making it possible to move resources quickly and adapt to evolving needs.
MAKE A DONATION
As always, every dollar counts. Any donations received after June 30, 2020, will be used toward long-term COVID-19 response and recovery of UWKV partner programs through our Community Care Fund.
