Advocate
To LIVE UNITED is not about politics. It’s about understanding the complex issues that face our communities, our state and our nation, and coming together to solve them.
OUR ADVOCACY GOALS
United Way of Kennebec Valley recognizes that in order to achieve our goal to make Kennebec County a better place for all, we must advocate for and advance public policies that support our mission and the missions of our partner agencies. We don’t just ask people to give—we need your public support as well.
Whether you’re speaking out to improve education, income and health, reaching out to your elected representatives, or sporting UWKV gear around town to show your support, you can help inspire hope and create opportunities in your community.

GIVE. ADVOCATE. VOLUNTEER. LIVE UNITED!
STATE ADVOCACY
Although we do not have a public policy staff, we work with the seven other United Ways throughout Maine to create advocacy goals and strategies at the state level. We are consistently working with our local and state government officials to let our mission be heard. If you are interested in joining us in specific public policy work, please contact our office.
FEDERAL ADVOCACY
On federal policy issues, United Way of Kennebec Valley follows the lead and recommendations of United Way Worldwide. When a federal issue impacts the Kennebec County, we ensure our federal delegation is aware of the issue and work with them to find an appropriate method of advocacy. We also engage our representatives locally with initiatives in the community whenever possible.
