Outdoor Discovery Camp

  • Viles Arboretum’s Outdoor Discovery Camps offer kids a chance to immerse themselves in nature through hands-on exploration, outdoor adventures, and creative activities. Campers will hike scenic trails, investigate local wildlife, engage in nature-based science and art projects, and develop outdoor skills—all while making new friends and building confidence in the natural world.
  • Speak for the Trees: Inspired by the book The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, campers are invited to explore the forests of Viles Arboretum and learn what it means to care for the natural world. July 6-10, 9am-4pm
  • Journey of the Birds: Inspired by the movie Migration, campers focus on the amazing journeys birds take and the habitats they rely on. July 13-17, 9am-4pm

Blistered Fingers Family Bluegrass Festival

  • Litchfield Fairgrounds, 30 Plains Road, Litchfield
  • Some of the greatest bluegrass music you can see and hear at one of the largest family musical events in New England! The Blistered Fingers Bluegrass Festivals has something for all ages and it takes place twice every year bringing thousands of music lovers from all over the world to hear banjos, fiddles, and those high, lonesome harmonies which features many national and local bands from all over the world.
  • Kids Academy: The focus is going to be how to play, sing and perform bluegrass music. Students will bring their own bluegrass instruments and commit to our three day program ending with an optional Main Stage performance Saturday! Each student will receive a free BFKA T-shirt!
  • Kids Academy is for ages 6 – 18. The academy itself is free but there is a cost for the festival in general. Also, kids attending the academy need to bring their own musical instrument if they have one.

  • A Summer Reading Program is held each year and weekly events include visits from local people, stories, crafts, experiments, cooking, music or physical activities.  Each year there is a theme, and activities are chosen around that theme.  Children are encouraged to determine their own reading goal for the summer, and are rewarded with prizes as they reach milestones along the way.  They are given such things as bookmarks, pencils and ice cream certificates just for signing up. Each year there is a new theme. Preregistration is not required to attend any or all of the summer programs.  Signing up to read is independent of coming to the programs. But participation is free and welcomed!

Camp Tracy

Fun in the Sun

  • Our summer rec program is run for 6 weeks during the summertime. Usually starts a week or two after school gets out. Parents get to select between two three-week sessions. Kids then attend a program from 8am-4pm where lunch is provided if people want to. Kids will go on field trips each week and other days will be at camp playing games and making different creations.

  • Developmentally appropriate soccer instruction designed to improve soccer skills to help campers gain confidence in an active and fun setting! Players will be grouped with other campers based on age and/or ability level.

  • Ages 8-12: Our hands-on summer clay camp gives children ages 8-12 an opportunity to learn basic clay techniques from hand-building to wheel throwing. With plenty of creative exploration, campers receive individual guidance and build skills and confidence.
  • Ages 13-16: Instructor Wendy Burton leads teens in this immersive 3-day mini clay camp exploring the fundamentals of wheel-throwing and surface design. Learn clay basics, including centering, shaping, trimming, handle making, and a variety of surface decorating techniques in a fun, and supportive environment.
  • Artwork will be available to pick up two weeks after class is completed.

Summer Tennis Clinic

Summer Track

  • Winslow School Campus, 20 Danielson Street, Winslow
  • Summer Track begins at the end of June and runs through the State Meet in August. Athletes will practice once a week and a attend a weekly meet where they will compete against programs from across the State. This program is run through the USA Track national program, all athletes need to be members in order to compete in the weekly track meets. Athletes can try different events and track their progress throughout the summer. Run by Winslow’s Varsity Track Coach Kenneth Nadeau and assisted by his High School athletes and held at our beautiful track on the Winslow School Campus. This program is open to residents and non-residents.
