Our business and community partners go above and beyond every year
Each year, United Way of Kennebec Valley presents awards to the top-performing fundraisers in the area. Award winners are selected by our Campaign Chairs and Campaign Committee each year and presented at our Campaign Celebration.
2021 Campaign Award Winners
Large business partner of the year
Lajoie Brothers
Lajoie Brothers' support of United Way has been instrumental to the campaign's overall success this year. Under the leadership of United Way board member, Joe Lajoie, Lajoie Brothers increased its campaign by 26 percent. This award is given to a company with 35+ employees that has demonstrated outstanding United Way leadership.
SMALL BUSINESS PARTNER OF THE YEAR
Blane Casey Building Contractor, Inc.
For the second year in a row, Blane Casey Building Contractor, Inc. (BCBC) has supported the United Way campaign in a new way. By establishing a new major fundraiser in the form of an Ice Shack Auction, BCBC has contributed more than $8,000 to our annual campaigns.
Public service PARTNER OF THE YEAR
Kennebec Behavioral Health
This award is given to a nonprofit or government partner that has supported the campaign in new or stronger ways. During the 2021 campaign, Kennebec Behavioral Health increased its workplace campaign by 106 percent.
CHAIRPERSON'S recognition award
Performance Foodservice—NOrthCenter
Campaign Chair Andrew Silsby presents this award to Performance Foodservice - Northcenter (PFG) for the company's outstanding contributions to the community through United Way. This year, PFG hosted numerous in-house fundraisers, which resulted in an 8 percent increase to its workplace campaign. This award is given annually to an entity that truly exemplifies what it means to LIVE UNITED.
NORM TEMPLE COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER AWARD
Chuck Hays & Katie Doherty
This award is presented to a group or individual in recognition of exceptional community service. In 2021, United Way launched its community-wide goal-setting initiative called Impact2032 with Chuck Hays and Katie Doherty at the helm. For the past year, they have tirelessly devoted their time to this initiative—logging many volunteer hours to ensure its success.
New Campaign Partner of the Year AWARD
Alfond Youth & Community Center
The New Campaign Partner of the Year Award recognizes an organization that has newly hosted an employee giving campaign in the workplace. UWKV's success is a direct result of collaboration with local organizations and businesses, and new partnerships are essential to expanding our impact—particularly in Greater Waterville. In addition to raising $2,364 in its first year with a UWKV campaign, Alfond Youth & Community Center had an employee campaign manager—Jeanine— who was absolutely fantastic to work with.
