Resources in Kennebec County
Due to the government shutdown, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits will be delayed, leaving many individuals and families facing heightened food insecurity. More than 14,000 Kennebec County residents rely on SNAP benefits. This change is already having a profound impact on our community.
United Way of Kennebec Valley (UWKV) has compiled the list of food assistance resources below to help connect people in Kennebec County with available support.
Please note: This list is not exhaustive, and any errors are unintentional. If you notice a correction or know of a resource that should be added, please contact kpushard@uwkv.org.
This page will be updated regularly as more resources become available or known to us—please check back for the latest information.
Primary Resource: We recommend contacting United Ways of Maine’s 211 Maine as a first step for any assistance needs. You can dial 211 or text your zip code to 898-211. Please be aware that 211 may be experiencing longer than normal wait times due to increased call volume.
