United Way has implemented a structure of management and oversight to ensure financial accountability and high ethical standards. United Way of Kennebec Valley’s annual budget and financial statements, including fundraising results, investments and operating expenses, are reviewed by our Finance Committee and Executive Committee and approved by our Board of Directors. Community investments are reviewed and informed by community volunteers who serve on our Allocations Committee and are approved each April by our Board of Directors.

Our financial statements are audited annually by a certified accounting firm, which reports to our Board of Directors and certifies that the audit is in full compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
