2018 Cornerstone Partner: Cives Steel
Cives Steel Company, a national leader in steel fabrication with a New England Division stationed in Augusta, has contributed to United Way for decades. Through employee donations and a corporate gift, the company has pledged to donate a total of $31,464 in 2018—an increase of 13 percent over last year’s contributions.
At this level of giving, Cives again qualifies as one of United Way’s 12 Cornerstone Partners, which collectively make up more than 53 percent of UWKV’s annual campaign. This is the second year of the recognition program.
In addition to facilitating a successful annual campaign, Cives Steel hosts the United Way’s Food Pantry Project, for which employees generously collect non-perishable items to supply to local food banks. Over the past four years, Cives staff have donated 117 grocery bags of food, joining United Way’s elite 100 Bag Club earlier this year.
Cives’ Augusta location, established in 1961, serves all of New England's structural steel needs, from high-rise and commercial structures to airports, hospitals, universities, nuclear power plants, pharmaceutical manufacturing and more. The company’s modern facility is staffed with highly trained professionals, state-of-the-art equipment and the capacity to annually produce over 20,000 tons of structural steel. In the past, Cives’ New England Division has provided steel for the construction of MaineGeneral Health, Logan Airport’s U.S. Air Terminal, Amtrak and various Maine paper mills.
