Cornerstone Profile: Cives Steel Company
Cives Steel Company, a national leader in steel fabrication with a New England Division stationed in Augusta, has contributed to United Way of Kennebec Valley for decades.
Through employee donations and a corporate gift, the company has pledged to donate a total of $27,812 in 2017. This contribution establishes Cives as one of United Way’s 12 Cornerstone Partners, which collectively make up more than 45 percent of UWKV’s annual campaign.
In addition to facilitating a successful annual campaign, Cives Steel hosts the United Way’s Food Pantry Project, for which employees generously collect non-perishable items to donate to local food banks.
Cives’ Augusta location, established in 1961, serves all of New England's structural steel needs, from high-rise and commercial structures to airports, hospitals, universities, nuclear power plants, pharmaceutical manufacturing and more. The company’s modern facility is staffed with highly trained professionals, state-of-the-art equipment and the capacity to annually produce over 20,000 tons of structural steel.
In the past, Cives’ New England Division has provided steel for the construction of MaineGeneral Health, Logan Airport’s U.S. Air Terminal, Amtrak and various Maine paper mills.
