Meet McKayla—UWKV's loaned executive from Hannaford
McKayla Darling, comes to us as a Hannaford Loaned Executive from Turner where she is currently the Customer Service Manager. Darling grew up in Sumner, attended Buckfield High School and began a career at Hannaford in 2013 as a cashier/bagger.
While continuing to work for Hannaford, Darling attended the University of Maine at Farmington and graduated in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and minors in both business and psychology. After graduating, she garnered two prestigious awards from Hannaford; Service Star of the Year in 2018, and Department Manager of the Year in 2019.
"It was a great sense of accomplishment knowing that hard work does not go unnoticed at Hannaford," Darling said. "I love the culture and the values that the company [Hannaford] stands for."
Through her experiences at Hannaford and after working in many public school systems, Darling admits that she is undoubtedly passionate about helping others, especially when they cannot help themselves. Her goal is to provide inspiration to everyone she comes in contact with in all walks of life—spreading the message that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
Darling hopes is that through the loaned executive position, she will understand what it takes to make a difference, and looks forward to sharing that passion well after her time with United Way ends.
