Norm Temple Community Volunteer Recipient - Goebel-Bain siblings
Congratulations, Rowan and Elsa Goebel-Bain from Winthrop Food Pantry (WFP) on being recognized as recipients of the Norm Temple Community Volunteer Award!
Rowan and Elsa have been super star volunteers at the Winthrop Food Pantry. Rowan first contacted WFP in late March when schools began remote learning—Elsa, soon after to offer her help.
When the COVID19 pandemic hit the Kennebec Valley in March, the food pantry had the challenge of continuing to serve the community and at the same time had to ask the majority of its volunteers to stay at home due to their age. It was during this first week of change that Rowan contacted the food pantry offering to help.
Within days, Rowan and Elsa were working and impressing the food pantry with their willingness to take on any assigned task and complete it without supervision and in a timely manner. Rowan and Elsa worked with WFP twice a week until school went back into session in September. However, they continue to work with the food pantry as their schedule allows.
